Ballots and Bridges
Dear Reader,
Let’s talk about the elephant—and the donkey—in the room. This upcoming election will be a pivotal moment in our nation’s history. Many of us are grappling with how it will affect the communities we work with, serve, and respect. At Minerva, we know that the implications of this election go beyond the political realm; they strike at the heart of the work we do every day.
It is not enough to double down on practices that promote inclusive and equitable cultures; we must also support meaningful and ongoing efforts to drive systemic change. Many of Minerva’s clients are doing this by tackling disparities in foster youth graduation rates, challenging the inequitable systems that perpetuate hunger and poverty, and supporting people experiencing homelessness and substance use disorders. This election serves as a powerful reminder of the critical work we must continue to amplify.
There are communities at risk regardless of who wins this election. As a Black woman, I feel this tension deeply. The stakes are real, and the work often feels personal. As a communicator, I know the stories we tell and the messages we help our clients elevate build a way forward for those impacted by inequities and injustices. Minerva’s clients know that communications are more than a tool to shape perspectives; they are a bridge to better—better outcomes, better solutions, better futures.
So, in this critical moment, may we continue to communicate with purpose, fearlessness, and clarity. Change is constant, but smart communications turn it into progress. Whatever happens, don’t forget to take a deep breath. There is work to do—we’ll see you on the other side.
Onward,
